The German word for uncanny is unheimlich, the opposite of heimlich (homely), or heimisch (native). The uncanny goes beyond mere unfamiliarity. It is when something previously mundane becomes horribly terrifying.

Hmmmm well this is for all of these "old people" pics. Kinda makes me think of several weird smells. Yes, doctors offices. Moth balls? Sour things......kinda gross although I do not want to cast shadow on our beloved elders. They are wonderful people. And soon we will be elder as wellder. But the internet is the most important place for these pictures to exhist, because it is such a perfect depiction of reality.
