The German word for uncanny is unheimlich, the opposite of heimlich (homely), or heimisch (native). The uncanny goes beyond mere unfamiliarity. It is when something previously mundane becomes horribly terrifying.

I sure wouldn't want to come across a photo of myself in one of your blogs. although I used to have a laptop just like that, and strangely, I've just cut my hair a in a sort of 80's bob like that. all that's missing is the brat and I would be a stay at home mom. as it is, I'm just a stay at home wow.
